“Neun Sonnen" at uzwei in the Dortmunder U is curated and staged by artist and scenographer Vesela Stanoeva.

The exhibition title is inspired by a quote from American science fiction writer Octavia E. Butler: "There is nothing new under the sun, but there are new suns". The aim of the exhibition is to explore new ways of relating to our environment and to bridge the gap between human and non-human actors.

In order to realise this intention, an expansive 300-square-metre installation was created in the form of a work of art: 15,000 narrow white paper strips of different lengths hang from the ceiling on a net and surround the visitors, creating spaces and gateways, leading from one installation to the next.

The exhibition presents a broad spectrum of artistic perspectives and their implementation through VR, AR and interactive installations as well as other forms of time-based media art.
